The internet is abuzz today with word of a leaked scene description from Star Wars: Episode VIII and we here at NewsWatch have a little something to say about it. But first, let’s take a peek at what exactly was leaked.

Please read the following in a scrolling upward text fashion with a space backdrop in your mind:

“In the scene Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Council became ‘arrogant’ and that they were hiding a ‘secret’, which led to their demise. The old Jedi master takes Rey’s hand and shows her a glimpse into the past. They see two children playing near a tree on an alien planet. The boy noticed that he had greater strength and intuition when he was closer to this tree. One day an argument breaks out between the children, and the boy kills the girl. The boy touches the tree and is ‘transformed’. He kills his parents and leaves the planet. Meanwhile the girl is revealed to be alive, transformed by the tree as well, using her power to start the first Jedi Order. In the flashback, the girl then explains that the Force can be used for both good and evil. She also says that one day in the future, she will return in a different form. Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Order had been searching for The One (the reincarnation of the original founder of the Jedi) for a millennia. When they found Anakin Skywalker and thought that he would bring balance to The Force, the Jedi were ‘deceived’ and the Clone Wars were the result. The scene also proves that Rey is not Luke’s daughter. The sequence ends with Luke giving Rey a choice and giving her until sunset to make it.”

This info is coming to us from StormTrooper Larry who has been proven right in the past about his leaks and information. So, let’s proceed with the thought process that this is accurate. We asked some of our resident Star Wars fans for their opinion or reactions and here is what we got:

“What is this, the theory of evolution? Was there a snake in the tree? Is the boy’s name Adam and the girl’s name Eve? This is so terrible that I can’t even begin to digest it.” –Andrew T.

“I’ve heard rumors that Luke parts the galaxy in two and travels for 40 light years through a desert of time and space to a land that is constantly being attacked for being predominantly Jedi.” –Guy H.

“Oh that’s cool, she is what they thought Anakin was but she is the reincarnate of the force without being a Skywalker! Though when i was reading it at first I thought it was the Jedi having visions of Bran in Westeros and he is the true savior of the Jedi! But I don’t want to know big spoilers like that from Star Wars.” –Mike M.

“Ok, so, this answers our questions about Rey’s lineage, but don’t tell me any more! I need it to be a surprise! I managed to make it to Episode VII without seeing too much info on the internet and I remember sitting down in the theater and my heart was racing! Every single moment carried a surprise factor and I loved it that way. I can only hope that the next episode is as good and lives up to that feeling. Also, I am a little more interested in Kylo Ren’s development and future, that’s what I am looking forward to. Redemption or not?” –Rabeca S.

“Reading a leaked scene about a new Star Wars movie is like sneaking into your parent’s room to see the presents before Christmas. Even if they are wrapped, you get a good feel about what you’re getting. And you know that pretty huge box in the corner? It’s got your name on it and it launches you into an imaginative sequence of everything that COULD happen. It’s a place in all of our nerd hearts that sometimes we forget to visit as adults and thankfully for that brief moment, that box and the new Star Wars is a mixture of everything you want it to be and more.” Ryan P.

I think that last guy said it best, and let’s be honest; do we actually care about the content of the leak as much as we care about the fact that there was a leak?
