All parents want their kids to be linguistic geniuses.  Unfortunately the truth is they’re either going to be, or they aren’t.  So what we can do is give them the tools to excel regardless of their natural talents, or lack thereof.

A great app that’s doing exactly that is Reading Jets A to Z.  It’s great for kids age 3 to 7, but works for pretty much any age, and it helps kids learn the order of the alphabet, the sound and name of letters, and what each letter looks like in uppercase and lowercase, among quite a few other skills.

Now there are three main games that your child can play.  The first is “letter tracing” where your child traces upper and lowercase letters and understands their names and sounds.  The second is “tap the correct object” where they have to identify words that start with a particular sound or letter.  And the final is the “memory game” where they have to memorize where images that correlate to a specific letter or sound is under a card.

The app is fun and easy to use and children love the space theme and find it engaging.  Kids can choose to learn with an American or Australian voiceover.  So it’s available for iOS devices for $1.99.
