NewsWatch was in Barcelona when Samsung released their sleek new Samsung Galaxy s6 and galaxy s6 edge.  They are beautiful and very advanced phones, but many die-hard Samsung fans noticed a few very important aspects missing- They weren’t waterproof, there was no removable battery and they didn’t have a microSD slot.

Ever since the release of the S6 and S6 Edge there have been rumors of a Samsung Galaxy S6 “Active” coming out that would be both waterproof, have a microSD card and have an extended battery life that was removable. Well the rumors are starting to come to fruition as a leaked photo was sent to GSMArena that appears to show the new Galaxy S6.  Check it out below - Image Credit GSM Arena:

As many previous rumors have suggested, the active will most likely have a larger 3500mAH battery, giving users a big boost in battery life.  It will also most likely be MIL-STD-810G certified, meaning that not only will it be waterproof but it will be dust, shock and drop proof up to certain military standards.  It will also most likely have a microSD card that can be added and removed.

A few things that can be seen based on the picture is that speakers look to have been moved to the back near the bottom.  The heart rate monitor and camera are both where they were before. There also appear to be 2 physical buttons on each side of the home button on the front.

The S5 active launched in May last year just a month after the regular S5 launch, so we are hoping we will see the S6 Active by the end of May 2015.  I for one am excited to learn more about when the Galaxy S6 Active will be launched in the United States.
