WHILL has taken the traditional wheelchair that we all know and completely reinvented it, creating the WHILL Type-A. To start, the overall design is very next-generation. They've stuck with four wheels, but built a unique wheel for the front tires that allows for small radius turning on all types of surfaces. The 4-wheel-drive system and big front wheels enable riders to avoid getting stuck on cracks or uneven surfaces.

Next, they built a control system that is reminiscent of a computer mouse -- so it's very easy to direct with one hand. The other thing to mention is the size of the Type-A. It's incredibly compact, around 23 inches wide and 32 inches long...so it can easily fit into a car or through doors. But the big thing to mention is the style. It's cool, it's modern looking, and the seat places users in a forward stance so they're not leaning backwards as if they were on a couch. A much more active feel than wheelchairs. Now WHILL has started to get Pre-Orders to a limited number of customers through their web site.
