AppWatch Review
A new and interesting educational curriculum called The Zones of Regulation isn’t teaching History or Math, but self-regulation among students. There are four zones, one for out of control emotions like anger, the red zone, another for controllable emotions like frustrations, the yellow zone, another for calm emotions like happiness, the green zone, and the final zone for lowly feelings like sadness, appropriately labeled the blue zone. A small indie studio in California teamed up with an experienced occupational therapist to create The Zones of Regulation app.
The app helps kids identify when they’re in a zone, how they got there and how to manage their emotions to move between zones. It’s educational, but also fun for kids – so they won’t get bored. To play the game, you choose a character and name them, let’s say your child’s name, then you play through tutorials and exercises for each zone and a few games for entertainment. But the general premise of The Zones of Regulation is to help fast forward a child’s emotional intelligence. And from what I can see, it definitely will help. Now the game is available for nearly any device out there and costs $4.99 and $9.99, dependent on the version.
