Apple is planning to launch its next iPhone on September 9th– the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will debut in one week at Bill Graham auditorium in San Francisco. The electronics giant has already sent out invites to the event to major publications and journalists and there are several things which are expected to launch at the September 9th event. Let’s see what we expect from Apple’s event:
iPhone
Everyone knows that the biggest announcement of the event will be the new iPhones. Apple is planning to launch iPhone 6S and 6S Plus at the event with some minor improvements over its predecessor. There will no changes in the design as expected with Apple’s previous launches. They will be more of a refresh to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. All the changes will be made under the hood including a new SoC. The only design change expected in the new iPhone is thicker aluminum to avoid another bend gate episode.
iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will also be a little thicker compared to the present model. Apple will include the Force Touch and a better battery in the upcoming models. In terms of performance, Apple is finally adding 2 GB RAM in iPhone along with Qualcomm’s latest LTE chip. The new iPhone will be faster and more efficient compared to the present models.
Since Apple introduced NFC in iPhone 6 and 6 Plus for Apple Pay, rumor has it that 6S and 6S Plus will include an improved NFC chip.
Moving to display, iPhone 6S and 6S Plus might feature Sapphire Glass instead of the currently used Gorilla Glass found in most phones. Force Touch will be adopted from the Apple Watch which will be utilized by iOS 9.
For photographers, Apple is bringing DSLR class camera in the new models. Apple has recently acquired LinX Computational to improve the phone’s camera. iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will get a camera boost from 8 megapixels to 12 megapixels.
Lastly, Apple might provide a shocking announcement to bring back the “C” color series iPhones. iPhone 6C or iPhone mini is expected to debut for a lower price and with the same plastic back. The screen size will be 4-inches and it will be available in a range of different colors. There are also rumors of a Gold Edition iPhone 6S and 6S Plus to match Apple’s limited Gold edition Watch.
iOS 9
Apple has already announced iOS 9 and it is being utilize by developers and beta users to optimize apps and get a glimpse of new features. The major addition to iOS 9 will be a new feature called Proactive. Proactive is similar to Google Now in which your iPhone will learn your usage habits and adjusts itself to make it more convenient for you. Secondly, iOS 9 will be optimized for better performance and longer battery time. There are massive improvements in the battery already in the Beta version and it will definitely improve in the final build.
This is good news especially for 6S Plus and 6 Plus users because the larger 5.5-inches screen definitely effects the battery life significantly. iOS 9 will not bring a lot of improvements over iOS 8 but it will bring the necessary improvements demanded by the users.
WatchOS 2
Apple has sold more than 3.6 million units of its smartwatche since its launch. The company is expected to improve user experience by giving an update to its OS. WatchOS 2 will bring a lot of improvements such as third-party app support. Third party apps will run natively on Apple Watch which will enhance the user experience. The apps will open much faster and speed up interaction as well. Third party apps will also utilize various sensors embedded in the Apple Watch. Expected are third party fitness apps that will be able utilize the heart sensor to provide detailed data to the user.
WatchOS 2 will also bring plenty of new watch faces for the users which will include time-lapse photos of popular locations around the world. Other improvements are not yet known but Apple Watch buyers will definitely want a new update.
Apple TV
Apple TV is expected to become more expensive and better. New Apple TV will feature Siri, iOS 9 and dedicated App Store. There is also news that Apple is working on a new wireless motion controller which will enable developers to make exclusive games for Apple TV. There will be a hardware boost to Apple TV and it is expected to retail for $149 or $199, almost double the price of its predecessor.
Users will also have the option of a new subscription based streaming service for $40 a month which will be a bundle with a range of TV channels.
iPad
Lastly, one of the most anticipated announcements at the September 9 event is the new 12.9-inch iPad. It is designed for the corporate sector but it will also be available to the end consumers. The new iPad will also include all the latest technologies which are rumored for new iPhones. It will comes with Force Touch screen, a better camera and a better display.
The new 12.9-inch iPad will attract users who were demanding a larger iPad because the difference in screen size between iPhone 6 Plus and the iPad was minimal. The demand for tablet has decreased and the new iPad will counter Surface Pro in the corporate sector.
For new versions of iPad mini and iPad Air, Apple always holds another event in October – So only the 12.9-inch iPad is expected to debut this week.
Apple’s September 9 event is one of the most popular tech events this month. It will bring a major competitor for Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5.
