In a recent interview with Collider on the topic of his new movie The Martian, Ridley Scott spilled the beans on what we could expect to see in the continuation of the Alien franchise with Prometheus 2.
When Alien was released in theaters in 1979 it became an instant classic. With its new take on the Sci-Fi and Horror genre Ridley Scott set the standard for what would become an ongoing franchise.
While it’s safe to say the only fantastic sequel produced was James Cameron’s stellar Aliens, it wasn’t until 2012’s Prometheus that this writer was truly roped back into the series. Set as a prequel, Prometheus took on the tall task of delineating the history of the aliens and really the fascinating concept of the history of the human race itself.
With an all-star cast including Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Idris Elba the film slowly but deliberately took us back into the world and setting of the first film without having to “force it.”
Now, the response to the movie was lukewarm with plenty of professional online haters taking writer Damon Lindelof (of Lost fame) to task for delivering what they considered to be a sub-par film. The film garnered a decent 79% Rotten Tomatoes score and a B Cinemascore showing I wasn’t the only guy who liked it.
It pulled in a pretty good haul of $403 million in the worldwide box office setting into motion a sequel. A sequel which was set up for at the end of the movie.
Ridley had the following to say about Prometheus 2:
“It starts off, Prometheus, with a very grand idea – or grand question, really. Who are they and why did they create such evil biology or bacteriology? To protect themselves from what? The questions are answered there or beginning to be answered in Prometheus 2.”
With Ridley’s resume containing classics like Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator, Prometheus 2 is sure to be fantastic.
In the meantime, we can get our Ridley Scott Sci-Fi fix with his new movie The Martian starring Matt Damon hitting theaters on October 2nd. It already has 96% on Rotten Tomatoes amongst critics who’ve seen it. If the trailer is any indication (and it isn’t always) then it’s sure to be another classic.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until May 2017 to see Prometheus 2 but put it in your calendar because my money’s on it being superb.

There is some truth but I’ll get hold belief until I consider it
further. Good article, thanks and we would like more!
So, I haven’t seen the movie yet, and this hasn’t spoiled ainnhtyg for me. Lee, I’m wondering, I heard that basically you learn everything but a tiny sliver about the movie in the trailers. Also, as to the sequel/prequel thing I heard that Ridley Scott originally intended this to be a prequel movie. But he wanted to tell a different story, so there is supposed to be no true relationship between the movies except that they exist in the same universe.
I could not resist commenting. Exceptionally well written!

Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there’s even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you?
