What Technology Will Help You Create the Next Best App?

Tech Report

Microsoft recently held their annual conference for developers called “Build.” The company made announcements about technology that will enable developers to create the next best app or program solution for the latest devices and computers. In fact, according to Microsoft, billions of opportunities exist for developers with the latest technology. And we were lucky enough to get an inside look with Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella who explains the importance of cloud computing:

“Cloud is not a single destination, it is a new form of computing. It enables the experience of mobility across all our devices. It then infuses those experiences with intelligence. It has the ability to reason over large amounts of data using a distributed computing fabric. We are opening up Office 365 unlike ever before. Your applications and your data open through Office 365 connectors. Add-ins can be found within the UI scaffolding of Office which very naturally by the users. That is 1.2 billion users of Office who will ultimately be able to get access to all of your applications as they get built.”
Many companies are quickly utilizing this technology to make their products smarter and our lives easier. Check these out:

  • BMW recently announced a world premier service for its drivers in the US called ‘BMW Connected.’ This is a highly intelligent, context-sensitive and personalized service that will go beyond the car. It is more like a personalized digital assistant for the driver. The technology, which is powered by Microsoft, learns personal preferences such as routes driven on a regular basis. Its smart interface can update drivers on any disruptions expected ahead. It can also inform them of their personal calendar or the energy status of their smart home. The more drivers use this technology the more intelligent it becomes.
  • MDLIVE is an online and on-demand healthcare company using Microsoft technology like Skype. It is able to facilitate doctor-patient consultations through the MDLIVE web portal and mobile app. Patients have a simple, easy-to-use solution to video consult with an MDLIVE board certified physician by just clicking on the “see a doctor link.” This seamless communication allows a patient to visit a doctor without leaving their home.

Technology is quickly advancing. We have internet connectivity almost everywhere – in our homes, work, cars. Almost everywhere we go we have the ability to be connected. Our connectivity combined with the power of cloud computing and other Microsoft technologies allows developers to create scenarios in people’s everyday lives that no one thought possible just a few years ago.
