UbiDuo 2 – Wireless Communication for the Deaf | NewsWatch Review

Tech Review

In the United States alone, nearly 38 million people aged 18 and over report some trouble hearing. What this means is there is a high chance that you or someone you know has some form of hearing loss. And for anyone that is deaf or has a family member or friend that is hard of hearing, the biggest hurdle they often come across is face-to-face communication. We know a one-on-one conversation with someone who is deaf, hard of hearing, or late deafened can be slow, frustrating, and error ridden for both people. You can imagine the issues this raises if the conversation is beyond a social discussion but is important for work, with your doctor, or a more detail-oriented topic. Well, a company called SComm has tackled this dilemma with their UbiDuo 2 wireless communication device.

UbiDuo 2 is a wireless keyboard hub that allows both people to converse in real-time and have meaningful, fast, as well as detailed conversations. The hub has two full-sized qwerty keyboards, each with its own touchscreen full-colored LED monitor, outlets for use of a USB device, a projector or HDMI enabled screen, and anti-theft slots. It is also incredibly light – just around four pounds, so you can carry it just about anywhere. This is also a standalone device so you do not need an internet connection in order to use it. And because you can totally customize the screen  – a person with vision issues can use it as well by just adjusting the font and colors to make it more accessible for the individual. With this device, communication issues between people with and without hearing loss is a thing of the past.

The UbiDuo 2 Wireless is available for just under $2,000. So if you or someone you know has hearing loss, go and check it out today at SComm.com.
