Whether we like to admit it or not, gambling is as much a worldwide pastime as football or cricket. Sure, certain regulations don’t allow one easy access to card tables, roulette wheels and slots but all that is starting to shift.
With the advancement of technology, specifically in the mobile field, we’re seeing the reach of casinos extend outwards beyond their four walls. With recent predictions indicating that the number of smart-enabled devices in the world will soon out-number the human population, casinos are wise to be making moves.
Take a moment and search for key words in your app store related to casinos, like “gambling” or “slots.” You’ll see an endless display of results denoting the popularity of these apps. While a number of these apps are for fun and don’t allow you to bet real money, there are some legitimate casino apps.
Roxy Palace Casino for instance allows users to play slots, blackjack and roulette without ever setting foot inside their casino. By downloading the app or visiting the site on a computer, users can gamble actual money.
While other entities have provided a means to gamble online for some time now, that’s very different from a mobile app or online portal run by established and trusted casinos.
There was some trepidation at first as to whether or not this would work, but when the casino industry as a whole started hemorrhaging money, some forward-thinking casinos saw an avenue to expand with the times. This has proven to be a much-needed stream of revenue with casinos seeing an upswing for the first time in years.
It’s not hard to see why. Millennials are more likely to whip out their smartphone to place a bet than they are to remove themselves from the couch and spend an evening in the casino. If they use their smart-enabled devices to order food, read books, watch movies, call an Uber, socialize, shop, then why would we expect gambling to be any different?
Now that doesn’t just go for millennials, I’d say that’s a universal observation for just about anyone. Smart tech is about making things easier and if there’s one thing you can bet people are looking for it’s how to make money with as little effort as possible.
You don’t have to be under the age of 30 to see the genius in that.
