How to Get Rid of All Those Unwanted Apps

We are living within a mobile revolution where most of us own a smartphone, not only do we own one but we have come to depend on them for so many different services, in fact, you can do just about anything using your smartphone so it’s a good idea to optimize to your own personal needs which we do in so many ways except one.

Our smartphone allows us to carry out so many tasks that would have eaten into our busy days and we not only complete our banking and shopping online, we book restaurant tables and buy tickets for the theatre, keep a check on our health and source our entertainment via our smartphones.

None of this would have been possible a few years ago, just imagine being able to hit the jackpot on rainbow riches one of the most played slots games online – let’s face it, it’s not so long ago that experience would have been awful with games crashing halfway through and phone screens so small that you would need a magnifier in order to even see the game.

So, we now personalize our phones to the extent that to lose it or have it stolen would be tantamount to a minor disaster for many.

But there are still great numbers of smartphone users that own device’s filled with apps that came with their phones. Most smartphone manufacturers bundle their devices with a series of pre-installed apps, and although there may be a couple you will use, the chances are the rest is baggage you could do well without.

Now the majority of apps are pretty simple to get rid of – it’s that baked in stuff that is hard to get rid of – the apps that come with the device, not those that you install from the Google Play Store.

How to Disable an App

  1. Open up Settings on your device and go to Apps.
  2. Find the app you want to remove and tap on it.
  3. There are two buttons ‘Force Stop’ – Disable (or Uninstall). Tap the Disable button.
  4. Select Yes/Disable

You will then see the app get uninstalled!

There is also the option to Force stop the app and also Clear Data before uninstalling it – if at any time you change your mind and want the app back you can just tap the Enable in the app page.

There are some apps (like the Samsung Internet) that cannot be disabled and if you really want to rid your device of these apps you need to try rooting your device in order to completely uninstall any unwanted apps – but be aware if you choose to do this procedure you will void any warranty and you might also stop other apps on your phone functioning properly.
