Apple’s new series of iPhones might have a pretty robust battery life, but there’s still the occasional need for extended battery charge when you know you won’t have access to a wall charger for some time. As a solution, Apple has just released the newest smart battery case for the iPhone 11.

The case is reminiscent of earlier iterations but cut to fit the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Right off the bat you can see the camera cut-out is big enough to allow for the large camera contained in this year’s phone.

The rest of the case feels the same with the usual soft, silicone exterior and easy insert and take-out thanks to the hinge near the top.

The most exciting upgrade to this year’s smart battery case is the inclusion of a camera button on the bottom right side. Tapping this button launches the camera app without having to touch your screen. It’s located in the perfect place for you to access when positioning your fingers to take a photo, especially in landscape.

After launching the camera app, tapping the button will snap a quick photo, while holding down the button acts a shortcut to start recording video.

What’s interesting about this camera button is that it’s not something that’s on your phone natively and is only unique to the case. In other words, it’s almost a modular addition, unlike the volume buttons.

In addition to the convenient camera button, the iPhone 11 smart battery case has Qi wireless charging capabilities, so you can drop the phone on a wireless charging pad without removing the case. It’ll charge both your phone and the case, just as if you had plugged it in.

Apple says the case offers 50% more battery life which, on top of the long-lasting battery in the iPhone 11, means you should be good to go without the need to charge your phone overnight.

You can purchase the proper fitting phone case now from Apple.com. It’ll cost you $129, no matter the size. They are available in both black and white, while the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max both come in an additional Pink Sand.
