Apple Sets Date for Next Event in October

         By: Nick Gambino

Apple announced their next event is set for October 18th. If rumors or guesses are to be believed they’ll be unveiling the new MacBook, Mac Mini, and possibly the next iteration of the AirPods

“Unleashed! These new six days are going to speed by,” Greg Joswiak tweeted out, offering us little to no information about what we might see at the event. Luckily, we have rumors to rely on.

If things go according to rumored plans, we’ll see both 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. They’ll be fitted with Apple’s very own chip, the M1X, with ten CPU cores and up to 64GB of RAM. We’ll also hopefully see more ports than its predecessor with 1 HDMI, 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C ports, and a possible SD card slot.

While the MacBook will get MagSafe charging, apparently they will also make the decision to get rid of the Touch Bar. When this was added it was a cool new feature, but I’m not sure how much people really use it. I know I for one almost never use the Touch Bar. It’s just not my first thought when I’m executing commands.

In addition to the above-mentioned power boost and other changes, the new laptops will most likely sport a slimmer design while also maximizing the displays.

We were hoping to see the AirPods 3 at Apple’s last event in September, but they were a no-show. Looks like they’ll finally make an appearance this time around. The new wireless earbuds will sport shorter stems and a bigger, more AirPods Pro style case.

The Mac Mini might see a redesign with the M1X at its core. They might also announce the release date for macOS Monterey. Then of course we might see some other surprises sneak in there somewhere. I just have no idea what that might be because the rumor mill isn’t churning out anything else.

Like the September event, this October event will be virtual-only without the press in attendance. You can watch it on Monday, October 18 at 10 am PST at Apple.com or on your Apple TV app on pretty much any device.
