Marvel’s Midnight Suns Delayed Again

By: Nick Gambino

Firaxis Games just announced that they’ll once again be delaying Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The dark video game was originally announced last year at Gamescom and was given a release date in March 2022. That didn’t end up happening and a new October 7 release was put on the board.

On Wednesday, Firaxis’s publisher Take-Two popped that balloon, slating it for release in March 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. Meanwhile, they’ve slapped a “TBD” on the Marvel title’s release for earlier consoles PS4 and Xbox One, as well as the Nintendo Switch.

“We have made the decision to move back the launch timing of Marvel’s Midnight Suns to ensure the teams at Firaxis Games and 2K deliver the best possible experience for our fans,” Take-Two said in a statement. “The title will launch later this fiscal year on Windows PC, Xbox Series X / S, and PlayStation 5. The Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions will follow at a later date.”

Marvel’s Midnight Suns are set in a dark universe where some of your favorite characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, and even Blade (one of my personal favs) unite to fight some big baddie named Lilith. It’s described as being in “the darker side of the Marvel Universe.”

The game will feature deck building where players will draw cards in order to determine the powers of the superhero they’re sending into battle on their turn. In addition to the aforementioned heroes, you’ll also have the option of creating your very own character, The Hunter.

The studio behind the new Marvel game knows gamers who were eagerly awaiting the title are going to be disappointed having to hold off several more months to play, and for some, even longer. They’re betting on the sentiment that people will be happier with a higher-quality game than one released prematurely.

“We know fans are looking forward to playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns and we will use this extra time to make sure we are delivering the best possible experience for everyone,” the team said in a statement on their Facebook page.
