What to do if You are in a Road Traffic Collision

There is a high probability that, at some point in your driving life, you will be involved in some sort of road accident. The reason for this is due to how common traffic accidents are. When you have that accident, no matter what the severity of it is, you are bound to be shaken up. This can cause confusion, and that means you are likely to make mistakes. When you have an accident, even if it is minor, you are very likely to be struck at the scene for a while. So this means you need to try and think clearly. There are some things you should do and other things that you shouldn’tshouldn’t. Saying the wrong thing can most definitely get you in hot water. So to help you out, this blog is designed to help you get through that encounter in the best possible way. By following this advice, you are far more likely to get the compensation you are entitled to.

Never Admit Liability or Apologize

It is very important that you never admit any liability or apologize, even if you think that the accident was your fault. So that means you must not use the word sorry, or that you think you did something wrong, or anything like that at all. That fact is that you do not know that whole troy. You only know or think you know what happened on your side. There is a lot more to a car accident than your side of the story. There may be a lot of other vehicles that have liability too. It is important that you keep quiet. It is up to the insurance companies to work out what happened and figure out whos paying who. The other driver may try and bully you into getting you to say that it’s your fault. They may say things to provoke a sorry response, like blaming you in an aggressive way. If your accident causes a traffic jam and other drivers are looking at you, it is important that you don’tdon’t apologize to them either. Anything you say can be used against you at a later date.

Don’t Say You are Uninjured

Just because you don’tdon’t feel that you are in pain now or that you are uninjured, that does not mean that you are not. Not all injuries are immediately noticeable. In some cases, it can take a few days up to a few weeks for the injuries to become apparent. If you suddenly start experiencing random back or neck pain a couple of weeks later, in all likelihood, this was caused by the car accident. Another thing that can happen is that you have some form of internal bleeding. This can take a couple of hours to show up, and it can be life-threatening. So, you need to get checked out. If you say you are uninjured and an injury is discovered later on, you are less likely to be able to claim for it, so be careful.

Don’t Listen to the Other Driver’s Account

The other driver may well be less shaken up and thinking more clearly than you are. These people may try and create a version of what happened and try and make you believe it. This is why you shod try and avoid getting into a conversation about what happened and never ever take the other driver’sdriver’s word for it. Don’tDon’t say anything, don’tdon’t agree with the other driver, and if you can, try and memorize your version of events by going over them again and again in your head. You need to try and make sure that the other driver doesn’tdoesn’t confuse you.

Reject Early Offers

It is important that you reject offers that come through very early. These may be sent quickly for a variety of reasons, such as you get you to accept less than you deserve. Also, remember that you may well have an injury that has not yet become apparent.

Avoid Naming Other People

When you speak to the insurance company, you should stick to the basics of what happened. You should not start naming people like your doctor and relevant friends or relatives. There is a possibility that you will have to go to court, and if that happens that the fact that you mentioned these people may come up. So, at that point, you will have to provide the proof or data that is relevant to that case. In some cases, the person themselves may be called into court. So, be careful.

Avoid Using the Phrase ”I Think’

It is not a good idea to start guessing anything. It will only make the situation worse, and you may begin implanting false memories. If you are not sure of something, use the phrase ”I don’t know.’ ‘ This is a much better idea than dealing with uncertainties.

Avoid Giving an Official Statement

You may have someone come up to you at the scene and ask for your official statement. This is something you need to avoid giving. You are going to be shaken, shocked, confused, and unsure of anything. It is actually best to avoid saying anything at the scene of the accident. Prior to giving your official statement, you should talk to a truck accident lawyer from Anidjar Levine or motorcycle lawyer, or whatever type of lawyer is best for your individual circumstances. A few days after the crash, you are going to be in your right mind. Also, speaking to a professional will help you work out the best things to say and the right way to say them. You want to avoid ambiguity or include a lot of it, depending on the type of statement or defense you are going for.

Stay Quiet

When you are at the scene of a car accident when in doubt, say nothing. Do not allow anyone to manipulate you into spilling anything at all. All you should do is swap insurance details and nothing more. It is the job of the insurance firms to sort out the mess.
