Apple has set a date for the kick-off of this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). June 5th, 2023 we’ll see everything new on the software front from the tech giant. This includes what to expect from all the resident operating systems like macOS, iPadOS, watchOS and, of course, iOS.
“WWDC is one of our favorite times of the year at Apple because it’s an opportunity to connect with the talented developers from around the globe who make this community so extraordinary,” VP of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott, said in the official WWDC press release announcement. “WWDC23 is going to be our biggest and most exciting yet, and we can’t wait to see many of you online and in person at this very special event.”
On the first day, June 5th, it’s going to be an in-person experience at Apple Park while the rest of WWDC will play out online through June 9th. In addition to OS updates, we’re hoping to see an official unveiling of Apple’s mixed reality headset. This hope is built on nothing but speculation with many claiming the graphic used for WWDC 2023 looks a lot like a VR headset lens. It’s a bit of a stretch but also not outside the realm of possibility.
The headset has been rumored to include a M2 chip, but at this point it might very well have an M3 chip onboard. Whatever it looks like and whatever it has shoved into its guts, the high-end machinery will fit seamlessly into Apple’s ecosystem with Siri capability.
There’s a possibility we’ll get some other hardware news like a glimpse into the MacBook Air with an M3 chip. Last year, the company set a precedent by unveiling the M2 MacBook Air at WWDC. So this could be a thing moving forward.
Even if we don’t see the long-awaited augmented reality/virtual reality headset or the newest MacBook Air, we’ll definitely get our fill on all the nifty new features coming to our iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac.
