It’s that time of the year again. Apple is getting ready to launch their newest and coolest iPhone. The tech giant just announced the event where they’re set to unveil the iPhone 16.
This year’s annual unveiling will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park on September 9th at 1pm ET and 10am PT. The tagline this year is “It’s Glowtime.”
Now we set out to decode what that tagline means. It’s always related to an Apple product and in this case most likely the iPhone 16 and its relationship to Siri. The digital assistant recently got a “glow up” where the edges of the phone begin glowing whenever she’s activated.
What this suggests is Apple is going to be focusing on Siri and their new AI – Apple Intelligence – and their integration into the iPhone 16.
Everything we’ve heard up to this point is merely rumor, as it is every year. Apple never releases any iPhone information ahead of their launch and we have to rely on tech sleuths to dig up info.
Here are the rumors which seem to hold the most water:
- The screen size is getting a bump up from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.7 to 6.9 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. They will also sport slimmer bezels. The lower-end phones – iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus – are reportedly staying the same size.
- We may finally get solid-state buttons in the new 16 lineup. That means they would get rid of buttons that physically move and opt for ones that stay put and engage on a software level and respond with haptic feedback.
- The rear camera may move into a stacked design which would place the three lenses vertically. Apparently this will boost its performance and also allow for better spatial video capture for the Vision Pro.
In addition to the new iPhone, we’re also expecting them to release new iterations across many of their mobile hardware products. We’ll most likely see AirPods 4, Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3.
