As is typical, there are a million and one rumors swirling on what we might see with the next iPhone. Most of these don’t hold any water, but if you pay attention to leakers and analysts who have a high batting average and who tend to have their claims substantiated, you’re going to get a pretty good idea of what to expect come launch time.
And so it goes with a series of photos showing off what the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Air will supposedly look like. These images come from Majin Bu who posted them on X. Bu has had a number of predictions pan out, so it’s worth paying attention.

Let’s be clear, these are not final iterations of the upcoming iPhone, nor are they even prototypes obtained from somewhere on the supply chain. These seem to be cobbled together dummy units that represent what are believed to be features in both the iPhone 17 Pro and the 17 Air.
Most noticeable in the photos is the presence of a large camera bump on the back that spans the width of the camera back. This hides inside a clear strip of what looks like glass.
This bump out allows the phone to house a large camera system for higher quality photo and video captures. The 17 Pro sports three lenses while the 17 Air only has a single lens. This makes sense as the rumored Air is expected to be lightweight.
Otherwise the body of the phone is matte black. This is a more true black than what we’ve gotten in recent years. Apple has stuck to releasing Black Titanium, but if these photos more closely approximate what we’ll end up seeing, then the new iPhone will come in a pitch black color.
These of course are all rumors until we get official word from Apple. We’ll see the new iPhone 17 lineup just before they launch, typically in September.
