Apple Watch Gets Put Through 'Torture Test'

With the release of the Apple Watch on April 24th we've seen mixed to positive reviews pouring in as consumers finally got their hands (or wrists) on them. With all the praise it's been receiving from its slick design to its intuitive functions there have been some complaints.

From complaints about the lack of substantial battery life to gripes with apps loading too slowly, this was to be expected. But one thing that wasn't expected was the lack of supply to meet demand.

In a quarterly earnings call on Monday, Apple CEO, Tim Cook, seemed to hop around questions about how sales were doing, only really answering that demand is higher than supply at the moment. It's a good problem to have but he elaborated further when he stated that certain international countries that were hoping to see the Apple Watch released in their region some time in early May will have to wait until “maybe” late June. Yikes!

Per Cook, there doesn't seem to be any firm plan to put the Watch in Apple stores any time soon either. All watches are currently being sold exclusively online.  So if you’re a brick and mortar shopper, you’re going to have to get with the times and try your luck online.

So with all this drama swirling around the Apple Watch release we need something to take our mind off of it. Something to help us vent, maybe?

Ah, how about a torture video featuring a brand-new Apple Watch? Bingo!

There are a surprising number of these videos out there testing how durable the new watch is. We like this one from CNet. Watch as this poor device is put through hell when it's cut, smashed, dropped in boiling hot water and even smothered in ketchup and a number of other condiments. To our surprise it holds up pretty well with barely a scratch on it. That is, until the end.

Watch for yourself.

Well, now that we got that out of our system we can re-focus on the release of the Watch.

With Apple's second quarter results reporting 61.1 million iPhones, 4.5 million Mac computers and 12.6 million iPads sold adding up to billions upon billions of dollars, somehow I think Apple is going to be okay.

“Glitches” like this are to be expected when releasing a new product. This is only version 1 of the Apple Watch. I mean, just look at the first iPhone or what some call the iPhone 1G. Compared to the iPhone 6 it looks like something used by Fred and Barney in Bedrock.

So here's to a smoother roll-out of the highly anticipated Apple Watch 2!
