SXSW Music 2015

SXSW Music - A Festival Above the Rest

March 23, 2015 1:25 PM ET

When music heads conjure up images of great festivals, they always seem to gravitate towards the large festivals around the U.S. like Bonaroo, Coachello and Lolapalooza; to name a few.  But one of the purest and most inspiring music festivals in the world isn’t centered around enormous stages geared for tens of thousands of fans, it’s a festival that has over over 100 intimate venues catered torwards only a few hundred fans at a time; scattered across unique bars and restaurants.  It’s a place called SXSW and it takes place each year in Austin Texas, one of the more eclectic cities in the country.

SXSW is the festival for breakout artists to showcase their talents, and for music scouts to discover that next great band.  Sure, there are some headliners at SXSW, but the real magic of the festival comes from discovering new and exciting artists and hearing it before the rest of the world even knows their names.

SXSW has 107 stages and over 2,266 showcasing acts.  There are also hundreds of music conferences for attendees to learn first hand knowledge about all the inter-workings of music.  And with over 30,000 attendees from over 78 countries, it was truly the spot to feel at home as a music junkie.

One of the best performances at the festival was Milky Chance.  Milky chance has recently come to be known on a larger scale, but you wouldn’t have know it by the intimate venue they played at during SXSW.  They brought an energy and vibe that got the audience wanting more.  Playing late at night and making sure everyone stayed awake, Milky Chance was something to be seen at SXSW.

So if your looking for more than to just check off some large performers from your list and actually want to see pure talent before all your friends know their names and lyrics, SXSW is the place to go. The festival is over for this year but we are excited to report from it next year and see what new bands we will learn that future generations will take for granted.
