With a Major Price Drop ‘Tis the Season to Invest in a New GoPro Hero4 Session

By: Nick Gambino

With GoPro slashing the new Hero4 Session to $199 from a slight but significantly more expensive $299, now’s the time to add it to your Christmas list.

Since it was released in July of this year the Hero 4 Session has dropped in price twice. It was originally released with a price tag of $399.  Offering a simpler, waterproof GoPro, the Hero4 Session was well received though it was hard to ignore the hefty price.

The Hero4 Silver which fetches for the same price, $399, offers a 4K experience and more features. The reason why they thought they could price these two GoPro’s at the same level was due to the Session’s smaller, lighter-weight build and waterproof casing, despite its lack of features.

The only problem was this didn’t really pan out in the real world. The fact is as a camera (which is its “primary directive”) it’s not up to par with the Silver or the Hero4 Black (a $499 buy). This isn’t so much of a problem as it still is a decent camera and is more versatile than any other GoPro. But just that price man.

So they started solving this when they brought it down to $299 but still that was a bit much. Nobody really expect them to drop it further especially as low as they did, half the original price.

Now at only $199 they’ve come up with the perfect solution to the problem. Those original haters are probably reconsidering and polishing up their Christmas lists. Some might even be looking at buying several for either themselves or family and friends. I mean they might as well be free! Ok that’s a stretch.

You can pick one (or several) up by heading to shop.gopro.com. There’s even free 2-day shipping! How can you beat that? Just in time for the holidays. I can see it now, some nut videoing the craziest “Santa down the chimney” stunt with a GoPro Hero4 Session strapped to their hat.
