Cryptocurrencies were considered to be a passing fad when they first emerged, but BitCoin and other cryptocurrencies have stayed the distanced and made people take notice. It’s believed that around two to three percent of people now use digital cash to pay for items and that trend seems to be increasing with each passing year as more people embrace digital money.

Cryptocurrency is considered safer as it uses blockchain technology that is incredibly difficult for hackers to manipulate, making this technology stable and safe, which is why some online businesses prefer to use it, so much so some places will give incentives, such as money off an item or free bets from a casino site. In fact, one of the things people love most about BitCoin is that it can be used without the need for a bank account. One trend that has emerged this year is that banks have even started supplementing their gold reserves with cryptocurrencies. If you’re curious about getting started with cryptocurrency but you’re wondering where to begin and what you can actually use BitCoin for, look no further – here are some ways you can spend your digital cash and some of the sites accepting BitCoin today.

Shopify

Shopify is an e-commerce platform that allows merchants to set up their own online stores and sell products, in a similar way to eBay or Etsy. Back in 2013, all Shopify merchants had the option to accept BitCoin payments on their products through the help of BitPay – providing consumers with more than 75,000 potential stores where they can spend their digital cash.

Microsoft

Many people don’t realize that you can actually use BitCoin to deposit funds into your Microsoft account to be used to purchase games, movies, and apps in the Windows and Xbox stores. However, they can’t be used to buy items from the Microsoft online store. But if you’re a big movie fan or a gamer, this is a great service to use and because it’s Microsoft, you can be sure that it’s a reliable one at that.

CheapAir

There are few different companies accepting BitCoin for travel and flight options. CheapAir, for example, accepts cryptocurrency for flights and has been doing so since 2013. In fact, it’s one of the few companies at the moment where you can use this currency as payment for air travel, with the transactions finalized using your Coinbase wallet.

Wholefoods

Owned by e-commerce colossus Amazon, WholeFoods announced that it now accepts BitCoin payments through a partnership with the app Flexa. Flexa has already added big names like Nordstrom to its payment gateway and since the announcement, there have been speculations as to whether Amazon will start accepting cryptocurrency as well, although Amazon hasn’t hinted at any such integration yet.
