solidarity

In a time of apparent division in America we need solidarity more than ever. Obviously I say this at the risk of sounding naïve and wishy washy but that doesn’t make it any less true. Despite how negative and bleak things look in the press we still have those people and programs out there trying to do some good.

The Solidarity App has a unique spin on helping that makes it very easy for anyone who’s anyone to contribute their help without spending a dime. It’s really quite genius.

After visiting www.SolidarityApp.com you’re presented with a list of free apps to download. For each app you download, they will donate to an initiative or charity of your choosing.  Find one that interests you and hit the download button to start testing the app. For more information check their website from your desktop.

But if the app is free then how are they able to donate money? Good question and this is where Solidarity is brilliant. The money comes from the app you are downloading. The company wants to get its name out there and get people to download.

They pay to have their app on the site. Each time it’s downloaded they pay Solidarity. Solidarity in turn takes 90% of that payment and donates to a charitable campaign. You see, just by downloading and testing a free app you are making sure a non-profit charitable organization is receiving needed funds.

For now Solidarity is focusing on specific charitable initiatives. For example, they are helping to support refugees in Greece, Turkey and Jordan through the Refugees Open Ware organization (ROW).

Another initiative they are actively contributing to is the Hippo Roller Water Project in South Africa. One 90-liter Hippo Water Roller helps one person collect five times more water than without one. Once they’ve filled their container, they roll it back to their home which is sometimes several miles away. This is a project that Nelson Mandela himself endorsed.

saThese are just a couple of the campaigns that you can choose from when downloading your app. They are poised and ready to add hundreds of additional campaigns as well as smaller projects in the near future.

As long as war-torn areas and the environment need our help Solidarity intends to continue with their mission and selflessly give back instead of turning a profit for personal gain.

It’s refreshing to see a charitable app more interested in giving than taking.

You can download the Solidarity App on iOS and Android devices. For more information check out solidarityapp.com.
