Every year at E3 we find out about all the new hardware and software in the gaming world. E3 2016 is full of new announcements, and we know it’s hard to keep up with everything going on at once. This year was full of new consoles, games, and lots of virtual reality. Here are 10 announcements from E3 we are excited about!

Two New Xbox Consoles – Microsoft announced their new console, the Xbox One S, which is 40% lighter than the Xbox One and will be available for sale in early August. They also confirmed that a new, more powerful Xbox, currently being referred to as Project Scorpio, will be coming out before Christmas 2017. The console will have a totally new look and have virtual reality and 4K gaming.

  2. Fallout 4 VR – Last year, Bethesda Softworks gifted us with the massive, open-world action game, Fallout 4. They are now adding the option to play it in VR on the HTC Vive. This is big news because most of the games that have been playing with VR have been coming from Indie projects. Fallout 4 will be one of the first bigger named games coming to VR.
  3. New Zelda Game – Nintendo aired a trailer for the new Zelda game everyone has been anticipating for a long time. The title was finally announced as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In the trailer we were shown a large, open world and discovered that Breath of the Wild will have voice acting in it. There will be a WiiU version as well as an NX version. Unfortunately, Nintendo announced they won’t be showing their new system, the NX at E3 this year.
  4. Sony Playstation VR Headset – Finally, Sony gave us a release date of October 13 for their new VR Headset. With 50 games available when the headset launches, we’re excited to see this hit the market.
  5. Alienware Free Roam VR – So Alienware has their own solution to solve the issue with cables surrounding VR. They are working on developing a virtual reality backpack that contains both the VR system and desktop components. Unfortunately, the device is kind of heavy – roughly 4.5 pounds. Obviously the device isn’t quite ready to be sold yet, but it is still a pretty cool idea.
  6. All Xbox Games are Windows 10 Games – And all Windows 10 games will be Xbox Games. Microsoft wants you to play their games, so if you buy a game for Xbox One you can play it on Windows 10 and vice versa. Basically, Microsoft really wants you to be playing their games and they don’t care where you’re playing them.
  7. New Turtle Beach Headsets – There are two new headsets from Turtle Beach that were announced at E3 this year. The first is the Elite Pro. The Elite Pro was made for esports pros and the competitive gamer. You can adjust the over-ear headset and it features complete sound isolation. Made out of gel material and leather, which is super comfortable. Their other new headset is called the Stealth 350VR headset and Stream Mic. This is a gaming headset that was developed to give clearance for VR cables and headbands. The battery also lasts for over 30 hours and is rechargeable.
  8. Ubisoft’s New Open-World Sports Game – Ubisoft announced Steep, which is an open-world action sports game that’ll have you going down mountains while you ski, paraglide, and snowboard. You can share your best (or worst) moments with friends in first-person view. It’ll be fun to see what action content users come up with! You can check out the demo here:
  9.  New Xbox Controllers – The new controllers for Microsoft’s new Xbox One S are heavily textured and come in multiple colors, allowing players to customize them. It supports Bluetooth and has a further wireless range.

  10. Nyko Intercooler Grip – Do you find your hands getting clammy from using controllers a lot? Nyko’s Intercooler Grip could solve that issue. It attaches to either your Xbox One or PS4 controller and blows cool air onto your hands to reduce sweatiness. Pretty innovative if you ask us.
