If it were to ask which is the greatest discovery up until the 21st century, that would be the electricity. In the past two decades, the answer would be the Internet. But as for now, it becomes more and more accurate to say that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is that discovery which will change the entire world from now on.
Artificial Intelligence is already an integrated part in many fields, and is expected to be more so in the coming decades. AI will be used to increase efficiency in many industries, either old ones like healthcare or automotive or new ones, like online gambling.
Here are five ways Artificial Intelligence can change the online gambling in the near future and how the industry can benefit from the next tech big thing in the decades to come:
Detect and prevent gambling problems and addictions. Artificial Intelligence can be used to detect signs of a gambling problem in a player, or even if that player has an addiction in that matter. No casino wants to have their reputation affected by such issues.
Recently, Kindred Group, a huge name in gambling industry, has partnered with the City University of London and with the gambling analytics company BetBuddy to create a technology to tackle this problem. In this way, will be collected information on how much time customers spend playing, and other behaviors.
Kindred Group is present in America with flagship brand Unibet, an online gambling platform in a continuous expansion with over 17 million registered players in over 100 countries. Unibet entered the U.S. market in 2018 establishing headquarters in New York City and launching in New Jersey in June 2019. It features one big platform for sports betting, casino, games and online poker.
Preventing cheating. There have been cases with people designing machines that can cheat slot machines in land casinos, and this issue can be brought on the table also in the online gambling business. There is the fear in the industry that smarter machines which will be able to appear human will be used for casino games.
The solution may come from Artificial Intelligence – either the possibility to detect such machines or create an advanced system of CAPTCHA test used to have a thorough inspection if the user is or is not human. AI will also be able to determine if there are irregular patterns in the player’s behavior.
Using smart data analysis in a smarter way. Another use for AI is handling the data that casinos analyze from their clients. This data helps anticipating the player’s needs and what makes the customer play, change the games, or quit, which is called consumer habit. The gambling companies use this information either to improve certain games or to boost the profits, by personalizing gaming experiences or special offers. And with a bunch of data to be analyzed, this might be the stage where AI steps in.
Better Customer Service. The future Customer Service agents will be able to access the player data and thus to give personalized and logical answers to the clients. The reason is simple: Either in online gambling or elsewhere in another industry, we have at least once experienced a rather “stiff” robot which couldn’t help us resolve what we need. And that happens not only at the phone, but also though a chat message feature.
Reaching to young people. Is not a secret that young people are attracted to technology, so a rise in using Artificial Intelligence in online gambling could help drive this market to the millennials – some people as young as under 30. And even though millennials are less likely to enter in a casino or even play through a desktop, they will be more engaged in mobile online gambling or even VR.
So, with an increasing popularity, the online gambling could benefit from the extensive use of Artificial Intelligence, thus improving the user experience.
