Many American households are getting smarter. But what does that mean? This trend expresses that more and more Americans are getting in touch with smart home technology. It does not just mean playing online slots for real money on various forms and screens. Rather, it means connecting two physical devices via remote controls. Most often via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. This is now very popular all over the world, especially in the US.

Advertisements claim that this technology will make your life easier. It is obvious that the market finds its customers very easily.

The industry offers a wide range of products. From improving security around your home to giving verbal orders at home to a small machine.

THE GROWING MARKET

In 2019, smart home device penetration in the U.S. reached 33% of the total population. Two years later, in 2021, it will reach 43%. So, a 10% increase in two years. The Covid-19 outbreak fueled this growth. People had to stay at home due to lockdowns and restrictions. They wanted to make their homes more comfortable and secure. Security devices became increasingly important. From door surveillance to electronic doorbell systems to automatic shutters.

Having control over your home even when you are not at home is the main idea behind it.

Sometimes it served more to show off to the neighbors. You want to have something modern to play with.

Still, the market will grow. Projections are that it will reach $47 billion by 2025. That would mean a doubling of revenues compared to 2020. A remarkable increase.

The number of smart homes will also increase significantly. From 47.4 million in 2020 to 90.7 million in 2025.

This trend can be observed worldwide. The demand is expanding across different industries.

WHICH ARE THE MOST DESIRED DEVICES?

When analyzing the U.S. market, the most popular devices differ by room.

For example, in the living room: speakers, TVs, consoles and, last but not least, robot vacuums. Surveys have shown that 35.6% of Americans have at least one speaker at home.

In the office, of course, laptops and desktops with intelligent support lead the way. Followed by printers.

Kitchen appliances with smart technology seem limitless. The most popular are refrigerators, ovens, microwaves and dishwashers. However, a dishwasher is always handy, even if it can not connect to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Hot air fryers and slow cookers have become an important accessory in cooking.

Nowadays, bathrooms are equipped with dryers, washing machines and toothbrushes. Monitoring your mouth has never been so easy.

Thanks to the revival of fitness and healthy lifestyle on Instagram, smart home technology has also introduced this area. Fitness scales and home gyms are the front runners in this industry. After all, what is the point of exercising if you can not keep track of your personal achievements? Then you can not share them on social media or with your friends either. That is not the logic of the 21st century.
