With E3 officially a distant memory after they sunsetted the video game event last year, we’ve been looking forward to Gamescom which started on August 20th. This is the biggest event in gaming and so far has delivered on that responsibility.

Here are some of the best announcements thus far:

INDIANA JONES AND THE GREAT CIRCLE

I’m not sure what the future holds for Indiana Jones in the movies, but The Great Circle might breathe new life into the franchise and guide us into the future for the character.

At Gamescom they unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming adventure Xbox title. It looks incredibly cinematic and designed to put you at the helm of the whip and Indy’s archeological-attuned mind.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle drops on Xbox and PC on December 9th with the PS5 version expected some time in spring 2025.

BORDERLANDS 4

Coming off the disappointing Borderlands movie – financially, critically and audiencely (?) – Gearbox and 2K are smartly providing a palate cleanser in the form of a new game. We don’t have a lot of details about Borderlands 4, in terms of gameplay or story, but they dropped a new trailer which looks awesome.

Expect that game in 2025.

BATMAN: ARKHAM SHADOW

While this newest installment in the series of Batman video games has already been announced previously, we got a new trailer and it looks bat-ass (I’ll see myself to the graveyard).

The trailer for the VR game boasts a ton of fun from brutal combat to grappling through the air, all from Batman’s POV.

Batman: Arkham Shadow drops in October exclusively on Meta Quest 3.

SECRET LEVELS

So Secret Levels is not a video game, but it is video game related. The new Amazon Prime Video anthology series adapts a different game for every episode. Amazon released the list of episodes that include animated adaptations of Dungeons & Dragons, PAC-MAN, Sifu and Mega Man.

Secret Levels drops on Prime Video on December 10th.

Gamescom runs through August 25th so there will be plenty more game reveals in the coming days.
