Apple is expanding their online workout platform Fitness+ to 28 additional countries, which is almost double the current number of markets where the Apple workout service is available. This is the biggest expansion of Fitness+ since its launch in 2020.
Fitness+ allows users to access a ton of workouts previously recorded and on demand. It’s like the next generation of exercise video what with the way it connects to your Apple Watch and tracks your fitness progress and goals. It makes it feel so much more personalized.
One of the reasons Apple was able to expand the service to so many new territories is because of AI. The company is using AI tech to dub voices of current trainers in three new languages – German, Spanish and Japan (launching early 2026). This isn’t going to be some other actor’s voice, but will be an AI recreation of the trainer’s voice speaking another language. These dubs will be available in the voice of all 28 Fitness+ trainers. Yes, technology is wild.
This makes Fitness+ more accessible for countries where they don’t predominantly speak the language in which the original video was recorded because they won’t have to rely on subtitles. Trying to read and work out at the same time is not only a pain in the neck, but it’s also potentially dangerous.
These automatic language dubs mean the runway for exporting to these countries is significantly reduced. The ability to get AI to do all the heavy lifting without a lot of manpower (read: little human intervention) has allowed them to scale up quickly.
A lot of the new countries that now have Fitness+ are from Asia. These include Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and India. Japan is expected to get Fitness+ in early 2026. Apple has even added K-Pop as a music genre option when you’re working out.
The expansion rolls out starting this Monday, December 15. The price is currently $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year in the U.S. This plan allows for up to 5 additional family members to use it.
