MWC 2016
By: Michelle Ison
For individuals who deem themselves to be “tech lovers”, the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition is heaven. At this years’ event in Barcelona, an assortment of mobile technology is unveiled. Fortunately, this years’ event did not disappoint! Therefore, we have accumulated a list of the exhibition’s technology highlights. Now, this list doesn’t necessarily include the best of the best. Yet, it incorporates this year’s most intriguing and anticipated finds.
- Samsung Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 Edge
Samsung has done it again! They have improved upon the previous model by adding a couple of new features, including the greatly missed microSD card slot. In addition, the updated versions will be water-resistant, and a faster performance alongside a longer battery life. However, this phone is meant to be capable of much more. The thin and slick appearance combined with the various new features will make the Galaxy a hot commodity.
- Sennheiser’s Speakerphone
When coming up with the perfect concept for an invention, it’s best to begin by solving a common problem. That’s what Sennheiser did when they created the speakerphone that was unveiled at MWC. This device is intended to make the lives of business professionals easier as it attaches to ones phone or tablet making it perfect for conference calling.
- Dot Smart Watch
Smart watches—like the Apple Watch—are all the rage right now. However, those who are visually impaired don’t receive benefits from these devices—until now. Dot—a Korean startup—revealed their revolutionary smart watch that is geared towards the visually impaired. This remarkable watch incorporates one very unique feature, being its Braille capabilities. If that isn’t short from awesome, we don’t know what is!
- HP Elite X3
HP—the computer company—has decided to enter the cell phone business. Therefore, this reveal from HP came as a surprise to many. One of the devices best features is that it runs Windows 10. In addition, it incorporates a fingerprint and iris scanner. It’s sleek appearance and luminous screen are enough to make one drop everything and purchase this device. From what it seems, HP is trying to give Apple—alongside other smart phone companies—a run for their money.
- LG Cam Plus
Before we get ahead of ourselves, it’s important to note that LG did not create a digital camera. Instead, the revealed their attachable grip that goes right into the LG G5. Although the LG G5 offers great features, the most important one is the extended battery life it provides to the handset. Therefore, those who heavily use their phone’s camera will greatly benefit from this feature alone.
