If you’ve ever lived with a roommate, then you know how hard it is to find someone you’re truly compatible with. Maybe you found them on Craigslist or knew them through a mutual friend – let’s face it, sometimes roommate situations just don’t work out so well because you don’t really know someone until you live with them. Well, the app, Roomi thinks it can find you a well-matched roommate.
Wondering what sets this app apart from other rental apps? It’s pretty much like the Tinder of roommates. Are you someone that enjoys quiet, low-key evenings or are you more of a party animal? Roomi will sync up with your Facebook to allow you to see what potential roommates are really like.
This app was made with millennials in mind, as more millennials are moving more often and renting later in their lives than their parents did. DCM Ventures has helped fund the project in order to try to expand internationally. Currently, over 375,000 people in North America use Roomi, and the company sees potential in making it work internationally. David Cheng, an investor at DCM Ventures stated “We believe that Roomi, as a dedicated platform for rentals and co-living, caters to this generation’s housing needs.”
This is an interesting, modern way to find a roommate to say the least. According to TechCrunch, Roomi CEO Ajay Yadav stated, “the goal is to build a platform people can trust. The person is as important as the place you’re going to be living in.”
