Kayacat – The Backpack Kayak | NewsWatch Review

Consumer Update

If you’re a kayaking, sailing or any sort of water activity enthusiast then you’ll love this next product we’re going to highlight. The Kayacat Cougar is the latest concept in watercraft and kayak design.

It allows you to sail, but it quickly converts to a narrow mode for paddling as a kayak. And this all fits in a backpack weighing as little as 13 pounds. But what makes it really unique is the Cougar’s versatility. Want to go kayaking? What about sailing? Slide seat rowing or paddle boarding? It can do this and so much more. The key to its lightness, strength and stability is the modular inflatable float system that’s made with a unique triple laminate material. All the functions are available separately to fit onto the base float structure, including a jet motor and fishing attachments. And they also have a wide range of accessories – or what they call APPs like on a cellphone, which include a fishing kit with a rod holder.  “Assembling the Kayacat takes little time, you can be on the water within 10 minutes. When you are done for the day it takes even less time (4 minutes) to pack. Its easily manageable size fits in any car boot, or can just be carried as a backpack. The Kayacat’s double hull design also results in a shallow draft which makes is possible to go around in just 10 cm (4”) of water. If you ‘go aground’ you can simply stand, lift and walk over to deeper water.”

Kayacat just ended a successful Kickstarter campaign with more orders pouring in. Go to Kayacat.com or search for “Kayacat” on Kickstarter for more information.
