AppWatch

It’s so easy to get lost in our phones doing mindless activities, like scrolling through social media and playing games. But why don’t we use our spare time to do something fun that’ll benefit us at the same time?

MONDO is a free app for anyone interested in learning Japanese.

You start by selecting what type of Japanese articles you’re interested in, from business news, to food, to manga. Another feature includes articles displaying the expected reading time so you can choose to read shorter or longer articles based on your available time.

From there, you’re introduced to your own personal news feed with articles on the categories you selected.

You can open the article and either read at your own pace or utilize the smart scrolling option.

Articles with ruby, which are pronunciations of Chinese letters, help you improve your Japanese study more efficiently.

If you want to save a word that you can go back to later, you can save it to your wordbook and take automated quizzes on those words later.  You can also use the word tests and flash-cards function to learn and master both pronunciations and meaning!

MONDO works to enrich your Japanese vocabulary and helps you learn through its “smart study” capability:

  • Your Wordbook: Words you look up are automatically saved into your wordbook which creates an automatic dictionary of new words you are learning for future reference and study.
  • Word Test: MONDO creates automated quizzes for you based on the words in your wordbook to help you learn the meaning and the kanji.

And there’s an internal dictionary function.  Using this, when you click a word or Chinese letter, you check its pronunciation and meaning immediately.

You can virtually handshake with other users, so you can chat and compare what each of you are studying.

There’s also a function called the Honda-ke no nichijyo, translated as the daily life of the Honda family, which gives you enjoyable and detailed explanations of words so you can learn conversations and subtle nuances.

You can learn more by downloading MONDO from the App or Google Play stores today.
