The NAB Show 2024 is in full swing in Las Vegas with plenty of tech goodies unveiled over the multi-day event and we’re psyched to be reporting on some of the jaw-dropping reveals.

The NAB show, which stands for “National Broadcasters Association” held its very first show in 1923 and since then has grown into a behemoth exhibit show, unveiling exciting new products from across the entertainment, media and technology landscape. This year is no different.

PXYIS 6K

One of the most anticipated products was Blackmagic’s new 6K cinema camera – the PYXIS. This state-of-the-art digital film camera features a much-demanded box design, allowing users to rig any variety of cinema camera rig they desire. Until now, they had a handheld that just wasn’t up to every task.

As the name suggests, the PYXIS 6K includes a full-frame 36 mm x 23 mm 6K sensor and dual native ISO – 400 and 3,200. This impressive camera has a whopping 13-stop dynamic range as well.

The on-board 4-inch HDR monitor is great if you’re shooting on the fly and don’t want to rig an external monitor. It also helps that the lightweight camera is only 3.3 lbs. There’s room for two CFexpress Cards, USB-C connections and Ethernet if you’re looking to hook up more.

URSA CINE 12K

If you’re looking for even more power than the PYXIS 6K, Blackmagic also released the Ursa Cine 12K. Like its companion release, this bad boy features a full-frame sensor but with more dynamic range and high-res imagery.

For many, the PYXIS 6K will be enough, but if you have a high-end production and the budget that goes along with that, the Ursa 12K is a no-brainer.

Blackmagic Design also released a teaser trailer for a 17K camera that’s in the works and should be available by the end of 2024. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about that very soon.
