The day gaming fans have been waiting for has finally arrived – the Nintendo Switch 2 is here.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launch day has the long-awaited console both hitting shelves and flying off of them in the same breath. They were selling out as fast as retailers like Target and Best Buy could stock them.
With high demand, many who were anxiously waiting for launch day, were forced to wait even longer before they could get their hands on one. I even had a couple of friends who stayed up all night – on a weeknight mind you! – trying to get their hands on the coveted gaming system.
Reviews have been pouring in and the word is the Nintendo Switch 2 is living up to the hype. With a larger screen, 4K support, magnetic Joy-Con controllers (each one doubling as a mouse), and a lot more goodies, there’s plenty to be hype for.
The games available at launch are as follows:
- Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
- Mario Kart World
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Street Fighter 6 Year 1-2 Fighters Edition
- Fortnite
- Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
- Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Sonic X Shadow Generations
- Hitman: World of Assassination Signature Edition
- Deltarune Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4
- Split Fiction
- Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
- Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition
- Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
- Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster
- Fast Fusion
- Survival Kids
- Arcade Archives 2 RIDGE RACER
- Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S
And then there are three classic games from the Nintendo GameCube that are available to play only on the Nintendo Switch 2:
- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
- F-Zero GX
- SOULCALIBUR II
Luckily, you’ll be able to play a ton of your old Switch games on the new console. This goes for both physical and digital copies. Some aren’t compatible, so you’ll have to look up each one to see if you can play it on the Switch 2.
