ChatGPT is currently taking the world by storm, delivering an AI chatbot experience that is lightyears beyond anything that’s come before. It actually seems…human? Of course the AI is not without its faults and quirks (which is honestly just another human trait), but that hasn’t stopped people from using it for a variety of writing tasks and idea generation. Some estimates put it at over 100 million users.
While ChatGPT is pretty popular as far as AI goes, it’s going to take making it a lot more accessible for the masses to get it to really catch on. First up, bringing it to smartphones. In that regard, OpenAI, the company behind the AI chatbot, has just released a ChatGPT iOS app you can download on your iPhone or iPad.
“Since the release of ChatGPT, we’ve heard from users that they love using ChatGPT on the go,” OpenAI said in a product announcement blog post. “Today we’re launching the ChatGPT app for iOS. The ChatGPT app is free to use and syncs your history across devices.”
The idea is to make it as user-friendly as possible which is why they’re not only allowing synced history with all your devices, they’re also integrating their open-source speech recognition tool Whisper. This will allow users to input prompts with their voice. It makes it more accessible and just more convenient all around.
While the chatbot is free to use, there is a paid subscription version called ChatGPT Plus that gives you access to features before they’re released broadly, plus faster responses from the AI.
The ChatGPT iOS app is currently being rolled out to the whole U.S. with other countries getting it over the next month. While it’s just available for iPhone and iPad users for the time being, they do have plans to release an Android version of the app soon.
