Summer is just around the corner and with this warmer season is the promise of backyard barbecues, evenings spent on the porch, and extra time with friends and family members.

You will likely have lots of plans for the days and weeks ahead but to ensure you have a wonderful summer break, now is the time to prepare your home for this sunniest of seasons.

Here are a few tips we hope you find useful.

#1: Give your A/C a tune-up

If your air conditioning breaks down over the summer or if it doesn’t run optimally, you might start to melt in the heat (not literally) if the temperature where you are is particularly hot.

The cool air from your A/C could be a literal lifesaver so hire a technician to give it a tune-up, even if it seems to be working fine at the moment. It’s better to be safe than sorry, after all!

#2: Maintain and clean your hot tub

Hot tubs are great for rest and relaxation but if you get into your tub at home and discover the water is an unusual shade of green or if the water isn’t at the required temperature, you will be hopping out of it moments after getting in.

To ensure your hot tub is clean and running properly, get in touch with a professional hot tub maintenance company at your earliest opportunity.

#3: Install a smart thermostat

You don’t want your HVAC to be running overtime if you’re not at home as you will be unnecessarily adding to energy bills.

As such, you might want to consider a smart thermostat so you can program your HVAC to cool or warm your home when you’re actually in it.

#4: Take steps to keep bugs at bay

The summer season is a great time to invite guests into your home, such as friends, neighbours, and extended family members.

Unfortunately, you might also get a few uninvited guests and we aren’t talking about those people that you ordinarily choose to stay away from! We’re talking about the bugs and beasties that will start to emerge once the temperatures start to rise so if you don’t want an invasion of creepy crawlies, follow these tips to keep bugs out of your home

#5: Deep clean your BBQ

Most of us give our BBQs a quick clean after each use but a deep clean is also recommended to remove any food remnants, grease, and excessive oils that could cause a fire hazard if not removed.

If you haven’t used your BBQ for quite a while, there is a chance that it might not be as clean as it should be. So, follow these tips for deep cleaning your barbecue to ensure it’s ready for use for your summer get-togethers and family meals.

These are just a few of the ways to prepare your home for the summer but there may be other things you need to do. Get on top of those jobs now to improve your chances of a stress-free and restful summer break!
