With Etsy’s announcement of their new same-say delivery service, Etsy ASAP, in New York City, they are the newest company to get behind this business model.
This new service, which is being piloted over the holiday season, will allow those who order something from Etsy to receive said order on their doorstep within a few hours. As a service like this isn’t easy to roll out, they’re strictly trying it out in NYC to begin with.
Etsy has made a name for itself in the last few years as an e-commerce site that offers handmade and vintage items that appeal to the crafty types. The ones who like arts and crafts that is, not those who are devious because that wouldn’t make sense.
With Etsy ASAP, users of the mobile app and website will be able to get their crafts that very day or at times the following day, for a small extra fee that is. What did you think you were going to be able to take advantage of this service for free? Etsy might appeal to the free-spirited but unlike their spirits, this service comes with a price. No matter the size or price of the order they are charging a $20 flat fee.
In order to take advantage of Etsy ASAP you’ll have to make sure to choose that option at checkout. No need to go to an entirely different site. You can select 3-hour delivery windows that are based all on the seller’s availability. Any orders placed after 7pm will be delivered the next day.
Like Amazon Prime not everything is available for this same-day delivery service but with over 5,000 products on the list, you’ll have plenty to choose from.
Now, Etsy will be using proven on-demand delivery company Postmates to handle the logistics end of the delivery. That’s definitely easier than, say, hiring and setting up your own network of drivers to be on call at all times.
If you live in Manhattan, Queens or certain parts of Brooklyn you’ll be able to use Etsy ASAP. If you live anywhere else you’ll be able to admire it from afar. At least until they expand the program upon finding it’s successful. For now, it’s only available in those areas throughout the holiday season. This makes it perfect for anybody looking to buy last minute gifts.
Etsy ASAP launched on October 26th, just in time to get any of those spooky handcrafted trinkets you were thinking about for Halloween.

That is really cool that this company will now be using another company to help make same day deliveries. I make online purchases pretty often, so delivery time is very important to me. I’m hoping to find more companies that offer to get my package to me when I need it.
