Counted amongst the biggest Netflix shows of all time, Stranger Things series is far from over. It was announced recently that the producers will start filming its fourth season very soon, which means that Netflix is likely to release it at the earliest next year.
Keeping in mind the third season’s ending it can be safely inferred that the fight against scary creatures is definitely not over. There are many stories left to be told, and with the kids growing up fast, the series is expected to evolve beyond the 80s era. Furthermore, there are several interesting facts that all ardent fans of the show should know about. For instance, here you can find many such incidents of the show, in terms of numbers, for example, the number of references to the 80s films, number of romantic liaisons, number of visits to the upside-down, number of Demogorgon appearances and more.
Winona Ryder/Lucas Paradox
Season 3 takes us back to 1985 and it can’t be said which era will the future seasons take us to. It’s for this reason, people took note that there is a hilarious and fantastic Winona Ryder/Lucas paradox which will require some explanation going forward.
We are not referring to Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) of the show, instead Winona Ryder’s film Lucas. The actress made her Hollywood debut back in 1986 with the romantic comedy called Lucas. Despite being only 15, she caught the attention of the Hollywood producers and starred in couple more dark comedies of that time – Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Bettlejuice (1988). She plays the role of Joyce Byers in Stranger Things and there is a very good chance that the 80s kids in the show, including Will, her son in the show, as well as his friends, would want to see these films. This is because the producers of the show made it pretty clear that they’d like to portray the pop culture in the series and there have been some notable differences throughout.
Hence, it would be interesting to see how these kids will react when they discover that Joyce resembles the young Winona Ryder a lot, especially considering the paranormal occurrences in the show. While doppelgängers are a reality, and it could be one way to deal with the problem, they might also think that Joyce and Winona are connected to each other in some way.
No clarity from the makers yet
The makers of the show are expected to address this paradox in some way, rather than ignoring it completely. The same paradox has been witnessed in other series as well, for instance in case of Marvel’s MCU wherein some characters resemble famous actors from films which are an integral part of the MCU’s pop culture. You must have guessed it by now, we are referring to Samuel L Jackson, however, there are others too.
While everyone is hoping that the showrunners will address it in the next season, when Shawn Levy, the executive producer of Stranger Things was questioned about it, he didn’t have anything to say. So we guess we’ll just need to wait for the fourth season to hit Netflix, in order to find out!
