In texas holdem, each player is dealt two cards face down. These are called your “hole cards”. Then, five community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table. The aim of the game is to make the best possible hand using these seven cards.
The first thing you need to do when learning how to play texas holdem is to understand how hands are ranked. The highest-ranking hand is a royal flush, which is a straight flush consisting of ace, king, queen, jack, and ten. The next highest-ranking hand is a straight flush, which is any five cards of the same suit in sequential order. After that, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, and one pair are ranked in that order. Finally, if no player has any of the above hands, the highest card in their hand is used to determine the winner.
