An end-of-the-year wrap-up from your favorite entertainment app is a fun way to see how you consumed music and video throughout the year. Spotify and YouTube have found a way to make statistics whimsical and entertaining.
And while it makes sense for entertainment forward platforms to do these Wrapped presentations, this year has seen a ton of others get in on this trend, even those that have us scratching our heads and asking “Why?”
The newest to jump on the Wrapped bandwagon is ChatGPT. The AI chatbot platform gives users an overview of their conversations throughout the year. I don’t know how they’d do this with those who have super weird relationships with the bot, but I’m sure they’ve figured it out. I can only look at my own experience with it.
I use ChatGPT as a glorified research or writing assistant. I think of it as a souped-up search engine that helps me drill in on the best answers and results. I typically jump between Google and ChatGPT whenever I’m researching a new topic or trying to figure out something that’s stumped me. It’s very useful when figuring out a complicated math problem or a handyman task, coupled with Youtube.
I’ll admit, I’ve gotten funny with it at times, forcing awkward exchanges and picking fights with the bot when it doubles down on something it’s completely wrong about. I’ve even used it to settle arguments.
Just the other day my girlfriend and I were at odds on how many gumballs were in a huge gumball machine. To settle this lovers quarrel, I took a photo and asked ChatGPT. It got to work, calculating the number of gumballs using advanced math equations that would make Will Hunting blush. In the end, I was right and won that argument (and a silent car ride home).
Wrapped by GPT hands out awards as part of the fun. I got the 2025 Plot Twist Prodigy award, “For turning everyday conversations into movie pitches, travel plans, and mystery gumball math – always with main-character energy.” The OpenAI chatbot even created a custom pixelated image replete with items related to my year’s queries.
You won’t see Wrapped by GPT automatically but will have to opt into it. It’s your reminder that ChatGPT remembers and privacy is always in jeopardy.
