Child’s Play Charity – Bringing Play to Children in Need | NewsWatch Review

Biz Report

It’s almost the holiday season, so lets’ talk charities. Child’s Play Charity was founded in 2003 by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins to help children in hospitals and domestic abuse shelters.

By providing age-appropriate games to kids they’ve received positive feedback from parents and care-givers who recognize the amazing impact it has on the child’s mood. Child’s Play enlists the help of the gaming community to improve the lives of children within a network of over 200 facilities worldwide.  They do this by donating toys and games that the children otherwise wouldn’t have access to. Since the charity was established, they’ve raised tens of millions of dollars going directly towards bringing a therapeutic gaming experience to children. Because as you may know, the power of play is a wonderful thing.

Now, if you’re interested in getting involved, there are two ways you can contribute to Child’s Play. With the help of hospital staff, they set up wish lists at each hospital full of video games, toys, books and other fun stuff for kids. On their site you can click on the hospital to view the list and send a gift. Or you can make a cash donation that’ll be used to buy gifts throughout the year. “With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.” For more information or to donate go to childsplaycharity.org.
