Lucid Audio HearMuffs – Soothing Headphones for Your Child | NewsWatch Review

CES/Consumer Update

If you’re a parent, you know how important it is to make sure your child is protected at all times. This is especially true when you’re in noisy environments, like sporting events and concerts.

Well, developed by engineers and audiologists from Lucid Audio is HearMuffs, hearing protection for infants to 12-year olds.

In fact, we spoke to VP Product Development of Lucid Audio, Gary Boyers at CES 2018 to discuss the advantages of HearMuffs:

HearMuffs is a product that was born out of the idea that nothing has been manufactured and designed from the ground up for children. Lucid Audio wanted to have the right materials for children, the right kind of products that moms would feel safe trusting with their children, and that would allow in all the different environments for you to be able to protect your children’s hearing.

All the HearMuffs have passive hearing protection built into them so in their rating of 22 which allows wherever you’re at for the decibel level to be lowered to a safe level for your child. But what’s really unique is that Lucid Audio took it to the next level and added some electronics that allowed some active sound compression. This means that loud noises or anything that is really harmful, it mutes them immediately.

In addition, it allows a child to have an awareness they wouldn’t normally have with the PassiveMuff only.

So, with the infant feature, Lucid Audio decided to include soothing sounds. It has four soothing sounds such as:

  • Babbling Brook
  • Fetal heartbeat
  • Lullaby
  • White noise

This essentially allows for you in any setting to soothe your baby as well as protect their hearing.
