Cough Tracker App – Hyfe

AppWatch

Coughing is a natural bodily response to an endless variety of stimuli. From allergies and air pollutants to a chest cold and pneumonia, there are so many different conditions that might be related to a cough. And with the COVID-19 pandemic opening our eyes to the importance of tracking and caring for our health, it can be extra worrisome when even the slightest cough erupts.

Before a global pandemic I never would have thought a cough tracker app would be necessary, but it’s 2020 and here we are. We have a calorie tracker, fitness tracker, and overall activity tracker, so why not a cough tracker that helps us identify what kind of cough we might be exhibiting?

The Hyfe app was designed by a team of scientists and academics from across the globe. It works much the same way a calorie tracker or fitness tracker does by tracking information over time to show a pattern. But what really sets it apart from those apps, is Hyfe uses AI to track the frequency of your cough and helps you identify important cough patterns.

Hyfe App

The app was specifically designed to react to the sound of your cough, record it and track against any follow-up coughs. It’s like getting a baseline on your cough and then using that to track its “movement” over time. This pattern can then help identify what condition the cough might stem from.

The cough recording is no more than half a second, just enough to isolate the cough from any neighboring sounds like a dog bark or a dragging chair. By tracking and comparing, you or an attending health professional can see if the cough is getting better or worse. It’s also a great tool for checking in on a loved one or someone you’re taking care of.

Like with any calorie tracker, fitness tracker or activity tracker of any kind, you’re completely in control of your information. You choose what you want to share and with whom. And unlike a number of other apps that shall remain nameless, your personal information won’t find its way into a third-party database because of some partnership between the tracker app and another company. To put it simply, your information isn’t sold to anyone.

The team behind Hyfe is currently at work identifying the different types of coughs that exist so we can easily determine whether it’s a pneumonia cough, a common cold, COVID-19, etc.

You can download the Hyfe app to your iPhone for free in the App Store or your Android phone by visiting Google Play.
