If you’re currently in a career that you love, you’re probably wondering how you can continue to progress and move forward.  While there are quite a few things you can do to make your dreams a reality, it’s not something that will happen overnight, and it will require hard work and effort on your part if you want to truly succeed.  In this article, we’re going to take a look at some of the things you can do in order to guarantee career progression.
1. Up Your Game
The first thing you need to do is be willing to up your game.  The higher you go in business, the more competitive the roles become, so you need to find a way to ensure you are the best candidate for the job.  One way that you can do this is through education.  Take a look at the MBA programs in California and consider putting yourself through a masters course; not only will this show your dedication to the field, but it will also provide you with the extra knowledge you need to succeed in a higher position.  You may also want to show a commitment to your company in other ways; be willing to help out on important projects, and be open to working late.  Showing your passion, enthusiasm, and dedication to the job you are in will see you go far.
2. Speak to Your Employer
You may be the most motivated member of staff within your company, but if you don’t let your employer know that you are interested in a promotion, you may never see your career move forward.  When possible, speak to your boss about the different opportunities available within the company, and ask them what you need to do in order to be considered for a role.  If there’s nothing available at the moment, creating your own personal development plan could be a good idea, and will be something you can show your employer should a position come up in the future.  In addition, letting your employer know that you want to progress could see them opening up a new position for you in order to keep you on board.
3. Don’t Settle
Finally, even if you really love the position you’re in right now, it’s important not to settle.  Not every company will be able to help you progress in your career, and so you need to know when it’s time to move on and seek out new opportunities.  The last thing you want to do is get stuck in the same position for 20 years just in the hope that things may change in the future.  So, if you’ve spoken to your employer, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to move forward in your current place of employment, finding a new position with an alternate company may be the best route forward.
No matter where you are in your career, it’s important to keep an eye on the future and what you can do to realize your goals.
